About Me

Lifelong plantswoman and artist:

I come from a family of passionate gardeners and was surrounded by and involved in all aspects of the garden from a young age. Drawing and painting has always been a constant part of life. After various under and postgraduate academic studies I settled into a career designing and managing IT Systems. During a family career break, I spent glorious 3 years exploring my artistic talents, at art school.

Having moved away from corporate life, I am now happy to be bringing together my gardening and artistry, supported by years of workplace experience, into a new venture: finally working in my happiest of places: solving practical landscape challenges, beautifully.

During lockdown, I undertook the postgraduate online Diploma in Garden Design at the internationally recognised Oxford College of Garden Design, graduating with distinction.

I live in Linlithgow, West Lothian, with my husband and 2 dogs. We work together in our lovely garden-room studio. I also enjoy music (piano and choral singing) and running. I am a Pre-registered member of the Society of Garden Designers and I support and advise Burgh Beautiful Linlithgow. (Burgh Beautiful Linlithgow is a Committee of Linlithgow Burgh Trust: the charity behind Linlithgow’s winning of Britain in Bloom 2022 Gold medal).

Deanburn Garden Design

At Deanburn Garden Design, we work sympathetically with Nature to optimise your special space. Our design work seeks to support and improve biodiversity across, and between, planting, insects, and wildlife. We follow industry legislation and regulation, always adhering to sustainable urban drainage systems (SuDS) and are fully covered by public liability and personal indemnity insurances.

Your garden is your vital space. We can help you to transform it. Perhaps you’re looking for:

  • a wellbeing haven: your own personal retreat from everyday stresses
  • a beautiful showpiece entertainment venue
  • a safe and screened children’s play paradise
  • or an easy to maintain working garden for food production

or more realistically, a carefully calculated optimisation of the space you have into the combination of whichever are the most important elements for your family, now.

As an individual imaginative interpretation of your aspirations – with budget in mind – we can draw from any preferred style (contemporary, more traditional or consider incorporating elements of other particular styles as required), which will be created to maximise the potential of the site, whatever the size and whether urban townhouse, Victorian terrace, country cottages, rural idylls or historic listed homes.
